Update on Current Progress and Activities of the Club.

Dear members,

My name is Alexander Sand, and I am the current president and co-founder of the Stony Brook Pre-Law club (SBPL) and I am thrilled to present to you our first report on the progress of the club so far.

Much of our activity over the semester so far has been behind the scenes, with the executive board focusing on completing organizational and bureaucratic necessities. We have accomplished quite a bit over the past month: we have written a constitution that will ensure the stability of the club and provide a solid base on which to grow, we have formed our extremely capable executive board, we have courted faculty advisers so that they may lend their considerable knowledge and influence to our cause, we have submitted to the registration process which will grant us the full rights of organizations come November, and, most importantly, we have been preparing and discussing how we may best serve you, the member.

It is in this last respect that we will continue forward, with the majority of our focus from here on being the many ways in which we plan serve the pre-law community including but not limited to: as a source for information, guidance, networking, and leadership opportunities. To this end we will begin posting various resources on the Facebook group (http://stonybrook.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22317026112), as well as here on our Blogspot page
. Most importantly, we will be holding our first general membership meeting in the coming weeks, which will enable all of you to engage with the club, and allow you to voice any concerns or questions regarding the clubs formation, mission, and future. I look forward to meeting all of you (if we haven’t met already), and I cant tell you how excited I am to see what we can do!

Truly Yours,

Alexander Sand

What is the SBPL?

The Stony Brook Pre-Law club is for any and all SBU students either considering pursuing law or planing on it! We want to be your source for information and aid in your budding legal career. It can be very difficult to find information about becoming a lawyer whether its figuring out what it actually means to be a lawyer on a daily basis, what the best way to go about attaining your goal is, what law school to go to, how to get summer internships, how to prepare for the LSAT, or all those other questions capable of inducing crippling panic. We serve as a sounding board for all of your concerns and will help you find the answers, and of course it never hurts to do some networking too!
